Elena Rybakina Ends Iga Swiatek’s Australian Open Run in Fourth Round

Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek was eliminated from the Australian Open in the fourth round by Elena Rybakina, the champion of Wimbledon. On Rod Laver Arena, Rybakina put on a strong performance and won 6-4, 6-4 after dropping only six points on her first serve and rallying back from a 3-0 deficit.

Swiatek’s dreams of winning the Australian Open were dashed by Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in an impressive fourth round match. Despite Swiatek’s success on clay, she is not as dominant on hard courts and finds it difficult to keep her expectations in check.

In a matchup between the two current active female grand slam champions, Rybakina won the opening set and proceeded to break Swiatek’s serve in the second game of the second set. Despite Swiatek’s efforts at mounting a comeback, Rybakina proved too strong and went on to take the match to reach her first quarter-final at Melbourne Park.
