FROM QUESTION TO FINISHED TASK

Two practical places to start

Choose a workflow, follow a guide, then check the result before using it in your work.

DOCUMENT WORKFLOW

Turn a document into something useful

A summary and a spreadsheet solve different problems. Start with the output you actually need.

  1. Need the main points? Ask for a short summary, key figures and page references. Follow the Copilot PDF guide.
  2. Need rows and columns? A scanned document needs text recognition before you can check the table. See the scanned PDF to Excel guide.
  3. Using a different assistant? Check the upload requirements first. Read the Claude PDF guide.
Copy a starting prompt

Summarize this document in five bullets. Separate facts from your interpretation. Include page references where available. Flag anything unclear and do not invent missing numbers.

This is a suggested prompt, not a tested product result. Check the response against your original document.

Check before you use the output
  • Compare names, dates, totals and decimal places with the source.
  • For spreadsheets, check that each value stayed in the correct row and column.
  • Only upload files you have permission to share; check your workplace policy for confidential documents.

Upload failed? Work through the Copilot upload fixes.

MEETING WORKFLOW

Leave a meeting with clear next steps

Choose how to capture notes before choosing a tool. A meeting bot, a device app and manual notes fit different situations.

  1. Choose your capture method. If a bot cannot join, explore options without a meeting bot. Check compatibility with your device and meeting app.
  2. Compare your shortlist. Read the Otter vs Fathom comparison, then confirm current limits and pricing with the provider.
  3. Review the notes. Confirm decisions, owners and deadlines with participants before sharing a final action list.
Copy a starting prompt

Turn these meeting notes into decisions, action items and open questions. For each action, include the owner and deadline only if stated. Otherwise write “not specified.” Do not add commitments that are not in the notes.

Use this with notes you are permitted to share. Review the generated action list before sending it.

Check before recording or sharing
  • Follow your organization’s recording and consent requirements.
  • Check storage, sharing permissions and deletion settings.
  • Correct speaker names and remove private information before distributing notes.
